Space Invaders at RMIT Gallery in Melbourne

This exhibition was called “Space Invaders” and it’s not related to the famous street artist Invader, at all. Whereas the artist pasted a lot of his pixel art in the city…

Space invaders” exhibition looks at artists and their iconic street-based works at the point of their transition from the ephemeral to the collectable and from the street to the gallery.

Featuring 150 works by over 40 Australian artists, this exhibition celebrates the energy of street-based creativity and recognises street stencils, posters, paste-ups, zines and stickers as comprising a recent chapter in the development of Australian prints and drawings.

Artists who were exhibited such as: Aeon / Azlan / Byrd / Civil / Dlux! / James Dodd / Haha / Misha / Makatron / Meek / Monkey / Nails / Phibs / Prism / reks / Al Stark / Sync / Xero / Yok, etc… More artists here: www.nga.gov.au

The exhibition took place from the 2nd of Sept. to the 5th of November, so we were lucky to be able to attend it during our Australian trip.

But we were not allowed to take pictures… so we invite you to check out this website to see a few photos of pieces which were exhibited, like stencils, posters, paste-ups, zines and stickers: www.nga.gov.au
