Meeting with Obey

OBEY Giant


It was last June 2012, I (meaning Sandrine) met Shepard Fairey, aka OBEY from Los Angeles in the US. I was so happy and so excited… even more when I sate just one meter from him…
It was during the launching of a new collaboration for Levi’s, with his old mate André, the French graffiti artist living mostly in Paris.

They both imagined very cool stuff for Levi’s jeans. I was very close to buy something… but not my style I guess. But very cool though!

Shepard Fairey, born in the 70′s is a graffiti artist, illustrator and involved firstly in the skateboard scene and he began to be famous thanks to his stickers campaign: OBEY Giant created in 1989 and renamed in 1998.In France, he exhibited a couple of times at the Magda Danysz gallery. Then he participated to the project called “le M.U.R.” in May 2007 with a artwork of WK interact.
He started creating art at the age of 14, in 1984 with drawings on tees and skateboards. And he never quit the idea and launched his label OBEY Clothing and e-commerce website: www.obeyclothing.com
